INDIGO
Collections to be exhibited at Premier Vision in Paris
A collection of 6 bespoke fronts that have a vintage style. This collection is aimed at the mid market, for women primarily aged 18- 30 however it is more about women having a passion for a bespoke piece rather than about age, The collection is romantic and feminine, and consists of lightweight delicate fabrics such as silk, chiffon and Georgette. The colour palette is a mix of blues and greens, turquoise that has a sweet feminine feel, while the darker teal shades add lively sophistication. Heavy beading, pearls and sequins add character and charm to the collection, giving it an individual style.
I wanted to create a romantic and feminine collection and I felt the use of lightweight fabrics would portray this best. Inspired by designers like John Galliano, Valentino, and Christian Lacroix and exhibitions at the Victoria and Albert Museum I was able to generate ideas and drawings for the indigo project. After designing the collection, I then sourced the materials that I would use. The collection is a combination of Georgette, Silk and Chiffon.
I sourced the beads from various shops, some are new and some are old. I heat pressed the sequins i used to make them feel older, which i feel adds to the character of the pieces. The collection contains elements of flocking, and embroidery. The glass beading makes it very delicate and fragile.
